- Light keeps every color and stores unchanged pixels once. Medium and Strong use fewer colors and treat nearly identical colors as unchanged. Transparency, timing, and the loop setting are kept.

- The result is always smaller than the original. If a level isn’t enough, fewer colors, fewer frames, and then a smaller size are used until it is.

It depends on the GIF. Screen recordings and GIFs with still backgrounds often shrink by half or more; GIFs that were already optimized shrink less. The finished size is shown before you download.
Start with Medium, which is hard to tell from the original. Use Strong for chat and upload limits, and Light when every color must stay exact.
Discord allows 20 MB without Nitro, and custom emoji must be under 256 KB. Choose Strong and a smaller width; for emoji, also use Resize GIF to make it 128 pixels wide.
