Drop a video of a person to remove its background

The person is found in every frame on your device, so nothing is uploaded.

Any media file this browser’s engine can read.

How to remove the background from a video

Open a video of a person and Mastershot finds them in every frame, on your device. Choose what goes behind them: a blur, a color, a picture, or a green screen. Or save the person on their own, transparent, as a WebM, as PNG frames, or as a GIF. There's no watermark and no limit on length.

  1. Step 1

    Choose a video
The person is found in every frame on your device.
  2. Step 2

    Choose the background
A blur, a color, a picture, or transparent.
  3. Step 3

    Download the video
Save it as an MP4, WebM, PNG frames, or a GIF.

What to expect

Supported inputs
Videos this browser can read, with a person in them. For a new background picture, PNG, JPEG, or WebP.
What happens
A segmentation model marks the person in each frame, and the edges are cleaned against the full picture so hair and shoulders follow their real outline. With a new background the video is saved as an MP4 with its sound. A transparent WebM keeps the sound too; PNG frames and GIFs are pictures only.
Limits
It finds people, not objects, pets, or products. A busy background or a person far from the camera can leave rough edges, so check the preview. Transparent WebM plays in Chrome, Firefox, OBS, and CapCut on a computer; Safari and Final Cut show it on black, so use PNG frames for editors.

Questions

Yes, with no watermark, no sign-up, and no limit on length. It runs in your browser, so the video is never uploaded.

Yes. Choose Transparent and save a WebM with an alpha channel for web pages, OBS, and CapCut, PNG frames in a ZIP for Premiere, After Effects, and DaVinci Resolve, or a GIF for a short clip.

Unscreen has shut down. This does the same job for people in a video, in your browser, with no upload and no price per minute.

No. The model is trained on people, so it keeps people and removes everything else.
