How to convert a video for Twitter
X shows an error for videos it can’t process, such as HEVC from an iPhone, 4K, or more than 60 frames per second. Open the video here and export an MP4 with H.264 video and AAC sound, scaled to fit 1920 × 1200 when it’s larger. Nothing is uploaded until you post it to X yourself.
Step 1
Choose a videoPick the video X won’t take.Step 2
Check the lengthTrim it first if it runs past 2:20.Step 3
Download the MP4Save it, then post it to X.
What to expect
- Supported inputs
- Any media file this browser’s engine can read.
- What happens
- H.264 video that already fits is copied. Other video is re-encoded to H.264, scaled down to fit 1920 × 1200 or 1200 × 1920 and to 60 fps when it’s more. Sound that isn’t AAC is re-encoded to AAC, or to MP3 in Firefox, which can’t encode AAC.
- Limits
- X allows 2 minutes 20 seconds and 512 MB without Premium. Its accepted shapes run from 1:2.39 to 2.39:1, so a very wide or tall video may still need a crop.
