What to expect
- Supported inputs
- WAV files at any sample rate, 16-bit, 24-bit, or 32-bit float, and any other audio or video file.
- What happens
- The uncompressed sound is encoded as MP3, usually about a tenth of the WAV's size. MP3 is selected first; you can choose another audio format.
- Limits
- MP3 holds two channels, so surround WAVs are mixed down to stereo. Very long recordings depend on your device's memory.

Questions
A minute of CD-quality stereo WAV is about 10 MB. As MP3 it's about 1.2 MB.
MP3 leaves out detail most people can't hear. For editing or archiving, keep the WAV, or convert to FLAC, which is smaller and loses nothing.
