Compress to
Each picture is saved at the highest quality that fits, then drawn smaller when quality alone can't get it there.

A picture already under it is kept as it is.

Opens everywhere, and photos come out smallest. JPG has no transparency.

Off, the quality goes as low as it takes instead, and some sizes can't be reached.

How to compress a JPG online

Type the largest size you can send, add your JPGs, and each is saved at the highest quality that fits under it, then drawn a little smaller only when quality alone can't get it there. Pictures in other formats become JPG on the way. The size is checked before you download, and nothing is uploaded.

  1. Step 1

    Choose your JPGs
Add one photo, several, or a folder.
  2. Step 2

    Set the size
Type the largest size in KB, or pick one.
  3. Step 3

    Download
Save each photo, or all of them in a ZIP, once its size is checked.

What to expect

Supported inputs
JPG and JPEG photos, and any other picture: PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, BMP, GIF, or SVG. Everything is saved as JPG.
What happens
Each picture is saved as a JPG at lower and lower quality until it fits, never below a quality that still looks like a photo, and only then is it drawn smaller. JPG has no transparency, so see-through parts become white, or black if you choose. Every file is read back and measured before you see it. A JPG already under the size is kept as it is.
Limits
The smaller the size, the smaller a photo comes out. Saving a JPG again always costs a little; a JPG already under the size is left alone for that reason. Very large pictures can be more than a phone's browser can hold.

Questions

Type the size under Largest size, or pick one of the usual ones, and add the photo. It's saved at the highest quality that fits, and the finished size is shown on its row.

A little, at small sizes. Lowering quality costs fine detail first, and the picture is drawn smaller only when quality alone can't fit. Each row shows the quality used and the new dimensions.

Yes. Add as many as you like, or a folder, and download them one by one or all together in a ZIP.

They become JPGs here. Use Compress PNG to keep a PNG's transparency, or the hub page to keep each picture in its own format.
