How to convert JFIF to JPG

Pictures saved from some websites in Chrome on Windows end in .jfif, which many apps and upload forms turn away. A JFIF is a JPEG, so add your files here and download them as .jpg with nothing re-encoded.

  1. Step 1

    Choose your JFIF files
Pick one or many, or drop them into the converter above.
  2. Step 2

    Keep JPG
Each file gets a .jpg name with nothing re-encoded.
  3. Step 3

    Download the JPGs
Save each one, or all of them in a ZIP.

What to expect

Supported inputs
JFIF, JPEG, and JPG files, and any other picture, which is converted to JPG.
What happens
A JFIF is saved under a .jpg name with its bytes untouched, so the picture is exactly as it was. Other formats are converted to JPG at 90% quality.
Limits
None for JFIF files: they only get a new name.

Questions

A JPEG picture with a .jfif extension. Windows names some downloaded pictures that way.

No. The file isn't re-encoded; only the name changes.

Windows sets the .jfif name in the registry for the image/jpeg type. Changing it back to .jpg there stops it, but converting the files here is quicker for a few.
