How to convert JPG to ICO

Add a JPG and download an ICO file that holds it at the usual icon sizes, from 16 to 256 pixels, for a favicon or a Windows icon. The converter runs in your browser, so your files stay on your device.

  1. Step 1

    Choose your JPG
A square picture at least 256 pixels wide works best.
  2. Step 2

    Check the sizes
Every usual icon size is selected; untick any you don't need.
  3. Step 3

    Download the ICO
Save the icon, or several in a ZIP.

What to expect

Supported inputs
JPG and JPEG images, and any other picture: PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, SVG, BMP, or GIF.
What happens
The picture is scaled down to each size and stored inside the ICO. A picture that isn't square sits in the middle of a transparent square. Sizes bigger than the picture are left out.
Limits
ICO holds up to 256 × 256 pixels. A JPG has no transparency, so its background stays; start from a PNG with a transparent background for an icon without a box around it.

Questions

16, 24, 32, 48, 64, 128, and 256 pixels, as many as your picture is big enough for. You can choose fewer.

Not from a JPG, which has none. Use a PNG with a transparent background instead.
