Is CapCut safe?
CapCut is a video editor run by Bytedance Pte. Ltd. in Singapore. Its privacy policy says it may collect the videos you import by pre-uploading them, even if you never save or publish anything, and stores what it collects on servers in Malaysia, Singapore, and the United States. Its terms treat everything you submit as non-confidential and give CapCut a perpetual, worldwide license to use it for running and developing its services. For a meme or a gaming clip that may not matter. For a private recording, it's worth knowing before you import it. CapCut shows visitors in the US a separate version of its policy; the quotes here are from the version it shows in other countries.

What that means for your file
- A video you import can reach CapCut's servers before you save or publish anything.
- CapCut says it stores what it collects in Malaysia, Singapore, and the United States.
- The terms give CapCut a perpetual, worldwide license to use what you submit for its services, and treat it as non-confidential.
- The policy gives no deletion time; information is kept as long as CapCut needs it.
- CapCut says it doesn't use face or body information to identify you, and deletes it once an effect is applied.
Private by design
Or keep the file on your device
Mastershot isn't a full editor like CapCut, but for quick jobs it works without the upload: trim, crop, combine clips, add audio, or blur faces in your browser, with the video never leaving your device.
