Sizes larger than the picture are left out.

SVGs are redrawn at this size, so they stay sharp.

How to convert SVG to ICO

Add your SVG logo and download an ICO that holds it at 16, 24, 32, 48, 64, 128, and 256 pixels. Since an SVG is a drawing, each size is drawn fresh rather than shrunk from one picture, so the small icons stay crisp. The SVG to ICO converter runs in your browser, so the file stays on your device.

  1. Step 1

    Add your SVG
    A square logo works best.
  2. Step 2

    Pick the sizes
All of them are ticked, from 16 to 256 pixels.
  3. Step 3

    Download the ICO
Use it as favicon.ico or a Windows icon.

What to expect

Supported inputs
SVG files, and any other picture: PNG, JPG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, SVG, BMP, ICO, or GIF.
What happens
The SVG is drawn at each size and stored as a PNG inside the ICO, with transparency kept. A drawing that isn't square sits in the middle of a transparent square.
Limits
ICO holds up to 256 × 256 pixels. Fine detail may not show at 16 pixels; a simpler mark reads better in a browser tab.

Questions

16, 24, 32, 48, 64, 128, and 256 pixels. You can choose fewer.

Usually yes. Safari and older browsers, and Windows shortcuts, still use the ICO, so many sites keep both.
